Working with Michele has been a career dream come true. Michele is a very thoughtful coach who dishes out practical advice for every step of your career journey. My first experience coaching with Michele was during her Career Accelerator course. There, she gave practical strategies, and homework, yes homework!!, to re-position myself as a thought leader in my industry using my LinkedIn profile.

A year later, I continue to be directly contacted by recruiters whose first comment to me is how great my LinkedIn profile is; they immediately understood my value, and were not bogged down by just another laundry list of past job duties that they see on everybody else's LinkedIn profile.

I continued my coaching with Michele to help me pivot into a new role that, get this, she had me write for myself. Yes!!!! I was able to land a coveted position that was never publicly posted. Michele has taught me to see my value in everything that I do, even the little things.

For example, whereas I thought that I was simply ordering spare parts, Michele was able to show me how I was actually saving the plant a million dollars every batch, since I was able to attain critical spares during unprecedented supply chain delays associated with the pandemic.

As a Black female professional with a STEM career, I don't recall many times when I worked with other black female professionals or saw someone that looked like me in senior leadership positions. Business professionals are always told to find a mentor, but when you are from a different gender and race than most of the people you work with it's hard to find ways to connect so that you learn and grow as your other colleagues do. When your mentors are not from the same group as you are they probably don't understand the unique challenges that you may face and the feelings that come with those differences.

There was never any hesitation for me about connecting with PositiveHire and Michele Hayward. I saw the post for that first event and knew it was for me.

I don't recall exactly how and when I connected with PositiveHire and Michele Heyward. I probably saw a post about one of the virtual conferences. I remember how I felt after the first PositiveHire virtual conference. I was amazed. The speakers were wonderful and the conference was "FREE". I couldn't believe that all that great information from women in STEM and for women in STEM was free. There were women that I could talk to and discuss my experiences and know that they understood.

Since connecting with PositiveHire and Michele Heyward, my thoughts on what my career could be have changed. I've been able to connect with Michele Heyward and other amazing women in STEM. I did something I never would have done and started my consulting business instead of being an internal consultant for someone else. The balance where my LIFE is large and the work that I love is a part of my life.
