Hispanic Heritage Month: It started out as a week, it became now a month and it should be taught and should be important every day of the year, and not just for 30 days out of the year.

One of the questions that a lot of people ask is: How are you amplifying the voices of Latin x community?

One way is to amplify it within yourself. We can amplify the voices by listening to understand, not listening to question to play devil’s advocate, No, listening to understand, is amplifying it.

Because before maybe you weren’t listening to understand, or maybe you weren’t even listening at all or asking any questions at all to me, I think that’s kind of an interesting way and I’m not saying going to a person, but also going to a documentary, going to a book, going to an article, and going with that open mind and those open ears and open mind is the way to listen, so that would be one way to amplify.

The other way to amplify is how and what is your brain being fed daily? What do I think feeds my brain? Well, I go on to a news app each day, I go onto social media each day, I read certain books each day, listen to certain podcasts. Each thing that you feed your brain, that’s how you can amplify their voices as well. It’s like, how can I amplify put their voice into my brain share that as well with others. So to me, it’s like amplification is about getting ideas and knowledge into our brains. What and how do we feed our brains and integrating it into those streams those channels, and sharing that with other folks. So it’s sort of like self-assessment as well.
