Are you a black, Latina or indigenous woman engineer looking to take a new direction in your career?

Are you curious how you can take your technical skills with you?

Consider Project Management!

Some engineers make the BEST project managers….I did say some.

Join my guest speaker, Tamara McLemore, as she discusses going “From Engineer To Project Manager.”

She’ll discusses:
– 3 things you should consider before making the switch,
– How you can determine if the PMP (project management certification) right for you
– Why engineers can make good project managers.

I believe everybody is a project manager. One of the huge benefits of being a Project manager is having PMP certification. The career advancement as they call it so you could be a manager owner, you could be the program manager portfolio, the principal, you have so many opportunities for career advancement once you have that PMP.

If more engineers were project managers, I would be without a job. I’m just being honest, I would be without a job because you wouldn’t necessarily need me. So you become an asset because you’re not only doing your engineering job, you’re able to put those reports together, you’re able to present to the team, you’re already doing the documents, you’re already doing the reporting, the user case stories you’re already doing. You have opportunities for management and executive roles.

There are many other benefits of being a Project Manager, just understand your worth and what you bring to your organization and using it using that leverage.

Engineers make great project managers because you are doing all that work. And I already knew this because I work with all engineers, you already have the inherent characteristics of a project manager, you think logically, you’re naturally curious, you’re creative, you’re very innovative. You’re all the stories of all the great developments came in somebody’s garage, or somebody’s dorm room, because they were thinking up how to solve a problem, that’s what engineers do and great attention to detail. Those are all inherited characteristics of a project manager the engineers already have.
